Kukhela Mining LDA is a Mozambican exploration company focused on developing the Nhamatanda Gold Project, located in Sofala Province. Kukhela Mining is committed to sustainable practices and responsible mining, with a focus on maximizing the project’s potential for gold and associated minerals within this strategically located concession.
The Nhamatanda Gold Project (License 12680) is located in the Nhamatanda District, Sofala Province, Mozambique, about 2.5 km west of Nhamatanda town and 104 km northwest of Beira. The license area covers 16,239.46 hectares (162.3946 sq. km) and is accessible via mud and paved roads along National Highway N6. This proximity to major transportation routes, including a railway passing through Nhamatanda, offers logistical advantages for exploration and future mining operations.
Gold mineralization in the Nhamatanda Gold Project is associated with quartz-carbonate veins in schistose and basaltic formations. Artisanal miners have focused on ferruginous schistose basalt with thin quartz stringers, and gold has been panned from quartz-rich areas in the northern part of the concession. The presence of oxidized zones, carbonate alterations, and quartz stringers suggests extensive gold potential in both primary veins and secondary alluvial deposits along seasonal streams.
The Nhamatanda project area lies within the Báruè Complex, primarily composed of siliciclastic metasediments, felsic biotitic gneiss, mica schist, and amygdaloidal basalt from the Mesoproterozoic and Jurassic eras. The regional geology shows significant faulting and folding, creating conditions favorable for gold mineralization within quartz-carbonate veins and altered basaltic formations. The license area also contains later intrusive rocks, including gabbro and pegmatitic dikes, enhancing the area’s mineral diversity.
Field Activities (July 2024): Covered over 46 km of traverses in the northern, southwestern, and eastern parts of the license area, assessing lithologies and potential mineral zones. Artisanal Mining: Numerous artisanal mining sites were observed, primarily targeting quartz-carbonate veins in mica schist and basalt. Sampling: Rock and soil samples were collected from quartz-carbonate veins and panned, revealing traces of iron and quartz particles, with artisanal mining also confirming gold presence along seasonal streams and in quartz veins. Notable Findings: A large artisanal pit in the north-central license area exposed a 2-meter-wide quartz-carbonate vein, hosting oxidized zones and boxwork, indicative of gold-bearing potential. The pegmatite veins range in width from 0.8 to 1 meter and contain coarse mica and tourmaline, hinting at more significant deposits at deeper levels.
Established Gold Potential: Artisanal mining and preliminary sampling confirm the presence of gold, reducing exploration risks. Strategic Location: Access to National Highway N6 and the railway passing through Nhamatanda provides excellent logistical support for exploration and future mining. Large Concession Area: Spanning 162.39 sq. km, the license area has significant unexplored land, offering substantial discovery potential. Geological Advantage: Diverse rock types and mineralization zones in the Báruè Complex enhance the possibility of further gold discoveries. Immediate Returns: Artisanal mining findings indicate near-surface gold potential, providing immediate exploration opportunities.
The Nhamatanda Gold Project offers a compelling investment case, with confirmed gold mineralization and favorable geological structures for large-scale exploration. Kukhela Mining LDA seeks investment to expand field activities, improve sampling coverage, and implement mechanized exploration, especially targeting the quartz-carbonate veins and artisanal pits that have already revealed gold mineralization. Proximity to infrastructure and promising initial results provide an attractive environment for early-stage investment with high growth potential.
