MozAustral Import & Export LDA is spearheading the development of the Gororeco Garnet Project, located in the Gondola District of Manica Province, Mozambique. Focused on responsible exploration and extraction of high-value minerals, MozAustral aims to establish itself as a prominent player in Mozambique’s growing gemstone and mineral sector. With a license covering 8,207.84 hectares, the company is committed to unlocking the economic potential of the region’s rich mineral resources.
The Gororeco Garnet Project is situated approximately 25 km north of Inchope and 27 km northeast of Gondola, within the Gondola District of Manica Province. The licensed area spans 8,207.84 hectares (82.08 sq. km) and benefits from proximity to key transport routes, including the N6 highway. The city of Beira, located 193 km southeast of the project site, offers logistical advantages due to its port facilities. Additionally, Chimoio airport, 62 km southwest of the project, provides further access to essential infrastructure, positioning the project favorably for future operations.
The license area comprises geological formations belonging to the Báruè Complex and Chimoio Group, with Inchope Orthogneiss indicating late metamorphism. Key rock types include biotite gneiss, pegmatite veins, and mica schist, with significant garnet-bearing formations. The garnet found in this area is primarily almandine and pyrope, formed during regional metamorphic events.
The area contains significant garnet deposits, with indications of historical artisanal mining activity. Garnets of diverse quality, including pale pink and purple varieties of Rhodolite, are present. The mineralization is primarily linked to pegmatite veins and biotite gneiss formations. Additional mineral occurrences, such as aquamarine, gold, and quartz, suggest the potential for multi-mineral exploitation.
The field survey covered multiple traverses aimed at identifying key garnet-rich zones, with significant observations of garnet deposits in biotite gneiss. Artisanal mining pits in the area have yielded garnets of varying sizes, including Rhodolite varieties, suggesting untapped potential for gemstone recovery. Pegmatite veins within the project area range in width from 0.5 to 2 meters and contain garnets along with coarse mica, indicating further potential at deeper levels. Additional minerals, including aquamarine and gold, have been noted, enhancing the overall mineralization prospects of the license area.
High-Quality Garnet Potential: The presence of commercial-grade almandine and Rhodolite garnets in artisanal pits suggests the potential for a scalable operation, with modern mining techniques likely to improve recovery rates and efficiency. Strategic Location: The project’s location in central Mozambique, with access to the N6 highway, Chimoio airport, and the port city of Beira, offers logistical advantages for both local and international markets. Multi-Mineral Potential: In addition to garnet, the presence of aquamarine, gold, and quartz provides opportunities for multiple revenue streams, increasing the commercial viability of the project. Skilled Workforce Availability: The region has a workforce familiar with mining activities, especially artisanal gemstone and gold extraction.

MozAustral Import & Export LDA seeks investment to accelerate the development of the Gororeco Garnet Project. With its high-margin garnet deposits, potential for multi-mineral extraction, and excellent logistical infrastructure, the project is poised for significant growth. The early exploration results have already confirmed garnet mineralization, and further large-scale deposits are anticipated. Investors stand to benefit from the growing demand for garnet and associated minerals in a politically stable and geologically rich region like Mozambique, with the project set to deliver substantial returns as it progresses toward full-scale development.
